Generations & years
First generation 2025–present
Reached dealers in China in March 2025 and launched in April 2025.
Powertrain, battery & charging
DM-i and DM-p plug-in hybrids use the DM-i 5.0 platform: the DM-i pairs a 1.5 L engine (115 kW) with a 200 kW electric motor and the DM-p adds a second 200 kW motor for all-wheel drive. EV versions use the Super e platform with a very-high-voltage architecture (above 1,000 V), rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive, and an LFP battery of up to 100.5 kWh.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Tang L is a different car from the older Tang and sits on newer platforms, so do not assume parts fit both. Its export name Sealion 8 is easy to confuse with the Sealion 08, a separate model sold in China. DM-i, DM-p and EV versions have different drivetrains. Charging inlets differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard and export versions are built for the destination market. Send the VIN.
