Haval's body-on-frame SUV. The first generation (also sold as the Hover H5) was a compact SUV from 2010 to 2020, and the model was revived in 2023 as a full-size rear- or four-wheel-drive SUV with petrol or diesel engines.
Generations & years
First generation 2010–2020
Compact SUV with petrol and diesel engines, sold as the Great Wall Haval H5 and Hover H5, with a Classic Edition launched in August 2017. Some sources date the end of the line to 2018.
Second generation 2023–present
Revived in March 2023 as a full-size SUV on the same platform as the Great Wall King Kong Cannon pickup, about 5,190 mm long on a 3,140 mm wheelbase. The 2025 model year cut the range to five trims, dropped two-wheel drive and added about 29 mm of height.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Second generation: a 2.0 turbo petrol engine (GW4C20B, listed from about 190 to 224 hp) or a 2.0 turbo diesel (GW4D20M, listed from 150 to 163 hp), with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Ground clearance is about 200 mm.

On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The 2010–2020 H5 (compact) and the 2023 H5 (full-size) are different cars with nothing in common but the name. Petrol and diesel versions use different engines and power ratings, and the gearbox and drive layout vary by trim, so confirm the exact version.
