Haval Chitu
China name: 哈弗赤兔 · Export: Haval Jolion Pro, Jolion Hybrid
Haval's compact SUV launched in China in 2021 as the successor to the F5. Sold overseas as the Jolion Pro, and as the Jolion Hybrid or Jolion HEV in hybrid form. Sales in China ended in 2025, so it is now export-only.
Generations & years
First generation 2021–present
Presented in February 2021 with sales starting at Auto Shanghai in April 2021. GWM South Africa introduced it as the Jolion Pro in April 2024. In June 2024 the Jolion range was restructured into City and Pro models and the older hybrid was replaced by a hybrid based on the Chitu. Australia markets the hybrid as the Jolion HEV and, from the 2025 model year, a petrol version as the Jolion Ultra.
Powertrain, battery & charging
1.5 L turbo petrol engine (GW4B15C) in two tunes, 150 hp (220 N·m) or 184 hp (275 N·m), with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The Chitu Hybrid uses a power-split multi-mode hybrid system.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Jolion Pro is the export Chitu, while the original Jolion (2020, successor to the H2) is a different car, so Jolion on its own does not identify the parts. Hybrid, HEV and petrol (Jolion Ultra) versions differ, and the export Jolion Pro uses the Jolion dashboard, not the Chitu one. It is also sold as the IKCO Cheval 2 in Iran. Send the VIN.
