Generations & years

  • Third generation 2024–present

Debuted at Geneva in February 2024, with Australia and Southeast Asia launches in 2024 and a hybrid version following in several markets. The previous MG3 sold in some markets was a different, older car.

Powertrain, battery & charging

Hybrid+: a 1.5 L Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a small battery, with a combined output of about 194 hp (155 kW) in European figures, and a dedicated hybrid gearbox. A petrol-only version uses a naturally aspirated 1.5 L engine. A plug-in hybrid version was also reported for some markets.

Where to find the VIN

On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.

China-spec vs export-spec

The 2024 MG3 is a different car from the earlier MG3 (2010s) sold in some markets, so confirm the generation. Hybrid+ and petrol-only versions have different engines, gearboxes and electrics. Send the VIN.
