Wey Mocha
China name: 魏牌摩卡 · Export: Wey Coffee 01, GWM Wey 05
Wey's mid-size luxury crossover SUV, presented in January 2021 and sold in Europe as the Wey Coffee 01 until the end of 2023, then as the GWM Wey 05. It replaced the Wey VV7.
Generations & years
First generation 2021–present
Presented in January 2021 and on sale in China from April 2021 at Auto Shanghai, initially with a 2.0 L turbo petrol engine only. The plug-in hybrid (DHT-PHEV) followed, and a facelift of the PHEV version came later. It was Euro NCAP tested in 2022 as the Wey Coffee 01.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Launched with a 2.0 L turbo petrol engine (157 kW, 211 hp), front- or all-wheel drive. Plug-in hybrid versions use a 1.5 L turbo engine (GW4E15BD in 2022–24, GWE15BE from 2024) or a 2.0 L turbo (GW4C20A), with a 9-speed dual-clutch or multi-mode DHT hybrid transmission. About 4.88 m long.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Mocha, Coffee 01 and GWM Wey 05 are the same car. Petrol and plug-in hybrid versions have different engines, and the plug-in engine changed in 2024, so the build date matters. It is a different car from the Latte, Lanshan and the older VV7. Charging inlets on plug-in versions differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard and export versions are built for the destination market. Send the VIN.
