Generations & years
First generation 2023–present
Original Gaoshan introduced as a luxury plug-in hybrid MPV. The updated Gaoshan family launched on 13 May 2025, and the Gaoshan 7 went on sale in Thailand as the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 on 24 November 2025.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Plug-in hybrid with a 1.5 L or 2.0 L turbo engine and electric four-wheel drive. The hybrid (HEV) version of the Gaoshan 8 uses a 2.0 turbo hybrid-specific engine with GWM's Hi4 four-wheel-drive system and a 3.64 kWh battery.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Gaoshan 7, 8 and 9 differ in wheelbase and body, so confirm which one you have. The original Gaoshan is now the Gaoshan 7, and the export name Wey G9 Hi4 applies to it. Plug-in and hybrid versions differ. Charging inlets on plug-in versions differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard and export versions are built for the destination market. Send the VIN.
