Trumpchi GS8
China name: 传祺GS8 · Export: GAC GS8 (export)
GAC's largest SUV, first introduced in 2016 and now in its second generation, unveiled in July 2021 on the GPMA platform. It is sold with five, six or seven seats and as a petrol and a hybrid car, and the plug-in version is the Trumpchi ES9. It is exported to markets such as Mexico.

First generation 2016–2021
Debuted at the 2016 Beijing show and went on sale in China later that year.
Second generation 2021–present
Unveiled in July 2021 with a longer, wider body and a longer wheelbase, facelifted in 2023 and refreshed for 2024 with a Navigator petrol and a Dual Hybrid version, from 186,800 yuan.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Petrol: a 2.0 turbo (about 185 kW, 252 PS) in the 2.0T. Hybrid: a 2.0 L turbo engine with Toyota hybrid hardware (THS) and an electric motor, rated at up to 372 hp combined with an E-CVT in the 2024 Dual Hybrid. Some versions use a 190 hp 2.0 (4B20J2) with a CVT or automatic. About 4,980 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,780 mm tall on a 2,920 mm wheelbase.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The first-generation (2016 to 2021) and second-generation GS8 are different cars, and petrol, hybrid and plug-in (ES9) versions have different drivetrains, so confirm the version. The GS8 is a different, larger car than the Emkoo and GS3. Charging inlets on the ES9 plug-in differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard. Send the VIN.
