Trumpchi Emkoo
China name: 传祺影酷 · Export: GAC Emkoo (export), Yingku (hybrid, China)
GAC's compact SUV on the GPMA platform, shown as a concept in November 2021 and launched in 2022. It was sold in China as the Trumpchi Emkoo until 2025 and is exported as the GAC Emkoo, for example to Malaysia and South Africa.
Generations & years
First generation 2022–present
Concept shown at Auto Guangzhou in November 2021, production model debuted in April 2022 and went on sale in China in September 2022. Production in China ran to 2025, and exports continue, including CKD assembly in Malaysia from 2025.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Three powertrains at launch: a 1.5 turbo (4A15J2, 177 hp and 270 N·m) with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, a 2.0 turbo (4B20J1, 252 hp and 400 N·m) with an 8-speed automatic, and a self-charging hybrid built on a 2.0 L Atkinson-cycle engine (AB20L1, 140 hp and 180 N·m) with Toyota-derived hybrid hardware, rated at about 182 hp in total.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Emkoo comes with petrol and hybrid drivetrains that differ in engine, gearbox and electrics, so confirm the version. It is a different car from the GS3 Emzoom (smaller) and the GS8. The China hybrid is called the Yingku. Send the VIN.
