Generations & years
EC7 generations 2009–2021
Launched as the Emgrand EC7 and built from the start as an export model with Mitsubishi-sourced 1.5 and 1.8 L engines. The Emgrand brand was dropped in China, but the EC7 name continued in Russia. A third generation went on sale in May 2018.
Fourth generation 2021–present
Surfaced in May 2021 and launched in China in August 2021 on the BMA platform with Preface and Xingyue L styling. It reached Belarus in early 2023, Kazakhstan in November 2023 and Russia in late 2023.
Powertrain, battery & charging
A 1.5 L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine (JLC-4G15B, 114 hp in China and about 103 hp in the Russian version) with a 5-speed manual or a CVT, front-wheel drive. About 4,638 mm long, 1,822 mm wide and 1,460 mm tall.
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The fourth-generation Emgrand and the older EC7 (also sold as the Emgrand 7 or Emgrand GS in some markets) are different cars, so confirm the generation. Power ratings differ by market. Send the VIN.
