Tank 400

• First generation 2023–2025

  Shown as a concept in 2021 and launched on 25 September 2023 as the Tank 400 Hi4-T, the second Tank with a plug-in hybrid after the Tank 500. Pre-sale orders topped 8,500.

• Refresh 2025–present

  A refreshed Tank 400 launched in China in late 2025 from 249,800 yuan, with a petrol 2.0T and 48 V mild-hybrid version, a Hi4-T single-motor PHEV and a Hi4-Z dual-motor PHEV, and a smaller 15.6-inch centre screen.

Hi4-T plug-in hybrid: a 2.0 turbo engine (about 185 kW, 380 N·m) with a P2 electric motor (about 120 to 130 kW) and a 9HAT gearbox, for a system output of 300 kW (about 408 hp) and 750 N·m. A 37.1 kWh battery gives over 105 km of WLTC electric range. About 4,985 mm long on a 2,850 mm wheelbase, seating five. Hi4-Z is a dual-motor plug-in; the refresh also offers a 2.0 turbo petrol with 48 V mild hybrid.

On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.

The Tank 400 is a different, smaller car than the Tank 500 and 700, and larger than the Tank 300. Hi4-T, Hi4-Z and petrol mild-hybrid versions have different drivetrains, and the refresh changed the screen and options, so the build date matters. Charging inlets on plug-in versions differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard and export versions are built for the destination market. Send the VIN.
