Generations & years
First generation 2024–present
Shown as the Omoda 7 in 2024. It launched in South Africa on 11 November 2025 in Luxury, Elegance and SHS PHEV versions, and the China-market Tiggo 7L was revealed on 2 March 2026 and went on sale on 8 April 2026.
Powertrain, battery & charging
Built on a stretched version of the smaller Omoda C5 platform, as a petrol car or as the SHS plug-in hybrid using Chery's Kunpeng Super Hybrid system with a 1.5 turbo engine. Petrol Tiggo 7L engines in China are a 1.5 turbo (115 kW) or a 1.6 turbo (147 kW).
Where to find the VIN
On most cars the VIN is visible at the base of the windscreen (driver side) and on a label in the driver-side door opening; check your registration document too.
China-spec vs export-spec
The Omoda C7 is the same car as the Chery Tiggo 7L, Omoda 7, Jeland C7 and Ecoda E7, so the badge does not identify the parts. It is a different car from the Omoda C5 and C9. Petrol and SHS plug-in versions differ. Charging inlets on the plug-in version differ by market: China-spec cars use the GB/T standard and export versions are built for the destination market.
